Why is it important to have my eyes checked?

Periodic eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventative health care. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, therefore early diagnosis and care for your eyes can prevent vision loss.

What happens during an eye exam?

The doctor will ask about any eye or vision problems you are currently having and about your overall health. He will also ask for a patient history and any related family conditions. The patient will undergo a visual acuity test and preliminary tests which include autokeratometry and refraction measurements, eye focusing, eye teaming, and eye movement testing, eye health evaluation, and supplemental testing if needed.

What is the difference between an Ophthalmologist and an Optometrist?

An Ophthalmologist is certified to perform eye surgery whereas an Optometrist cannot. Both doctors are able to care for your eyes pre and post surgery.

How much is an adult eye exam?

Our basic eye exam rate is $70. A contact lens exam can run anywhere from $105 to $140.
